100 Thieves have officially completed their League of Legends roster for the 2021 season after releasing most of their roster. Tanner “Damonte” Damonte and Choi “Huhi” Jae-Hyun join the roster for the mid-lane and support respectively. Both players previously played for the Golden Guardians during the 2020 Summer Split. They join teammates Can “Closer” Çelik and AD Carry Ian “FBI” Huang who was signed earlier this week.

Golden Guardians have not been known as the most solid team in the League of Legends Championship Series. However, their addition of Turkish import Closer has shown an improvement in their teams. They made top 5th/6th during the last two splits with the record of 9-9 and 8-10. This record is exceptionally better than 100 Thieves’ previous performance.

The 2018 Spring Split was the highlight for 100 Thieves who placed 1st overall and eventually made it to Worlds. Unfortunately, since 2018 the team has continued to travel in a downward trajectory. Even after removing most of their players and getting a new coaching staff in 2020, things still flopped. Now 100 Thieves hope to make a resurgence during 2021 with a team that already has synergy playing together.

100 Thieves or Ssumday Guardians?

100 Thieves have decided to make top-laner Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho the focal point for their League of Legends roster. He has been with the team since it was first formed in 2018 and has continued to consistently put up numbers each split. Despite 100 Thieves’ poor performance, Ssumday has remained a top-three mid-laner in the region.

Ssumday will now have a team beside him that should, theoretically, have little internal issues since they’ve already played together. Other teams will have to suffer through an adjustment period with their new members. However, with 100 Thieves’ unfortunate track record, anything is seemingly possible.
