Valorant Champions Tour hosted three separate qualifiers with 200+ teams competing in each for their chance at Masters. With the second day of the third closed qualifier over, we now have our remaining four teams to earn their spot. Both 100 Thieves and Gen.G had to battle their way through the lower bracket while FaZe Clan and Luminosity tore through the upper.

Luminosity has looked dominant since bringing on Diondre “YaBoiDre” Bond and Kaleb “moose” Jayne back at the NSG Winter Championship. Along the way they have beaten some of the top teams in the scene including Sentinels, Envy, and 100 Thieves. They defeated TSM and amateur team Kooky Koalas to qualify for Masters. They will be facing off against FaZe Clan tomorrow for seeding.

FaZe Clan was an unnoticed team for most of the Valorant Champions Tour until they started heating up at the closed qualifier. They were unable to qualify for the first closed qualifier, ending their run short in round 16 before bouncing back at the second qualifier. While they did qualify for the third closed qualifier, they were knocked out early by XSET in the lower bracket. Now they are looking to prove everyone wrong and dominate at Masters.

Gen.G and 100 Thieves eliminate top competitors

Gen.G had to defeat the amateur team Kooky Koalas in the lower bracket to keep their dreams of Masters alive. Like FaZe Clan, Gen.G has been silently making their way through tournaments with mixed results against top teams. However, the third closed qualifier was their time to shine as they took down Kooky Koalas and NRG Esports. NRG Esports had just come off a tough loss to FaZe Clan in the upper bracket after defeating First Strike Champions in 100 Thieves. The loss to FaZe Clan proved to be too much and Gen.G took advantage of it.

All eyes were on 100 Thieves to secure their spot at Masters after falling short at the last two qualifiers. 100 Thieves started off shaky with a loss to NRG Esports who capitalized on their lack of practice with new member Ethan  “Ethan” Arnold. They were able to bounce back in the closed qualifier against T1 who were also playing with new players. But, 100 Thieves would have to take down TSM in the lower bracket to secure their spot at Masters. Overall the match seemed to be one-sided in favor of Thieves who absolutely stomped TSM. Team captain Spencer “Hiko” Martin showed his experience by clutching a 1 v 4 to secure 100 Thieves’ spot.

Valorant Champions Tour North America: Masters begins March 13 and will determine who moves on to the international event in Iceland.
