The North American LCS, Brazilian CBLOL, and Chinese LPL will be the first three regions to start up the League of Legends 2019 Summer Split on June 1. The most recent international event, the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational, saw G2 Esports win against Team Liquid in the finals. Team Liquid return to the LCS to compete against Team SoloMid on June 1.

2019 LCS Summer Split
The first game of the 2019 LCS Summer Split will be at 5 p.m. between Cloud9 and FlyQuest in a best-of-one. This will be followed by the returning second place MSI finalists against Team SoloMid. These two matchups are between the 2019 LCS Spring Split top four teams.
During the Spring Split, Team Liquid took home first, Cloud9 took second, Team SoloMid achieved third, and FlyQuest ended the season with fourth. No changes have since occurred from Team Liquid. However, the other three top four teams have gone through roster changes.
Cloud9 saw Kim “Reignover” Yeu-jin join as a coach. Jonathan “Grig” Armao has rejoined the main lineup as an active player for Team SoloMid. Kim “Wadid” Bae-in joins FlyQuest’s main roster and Anand “Curry” Agarwal also joins as a coach from Academy.
LCS bottom four
Following these matches are Counter Logic Gaming against 100 Thieves. During the last split, CLG tied for 7th with OpTic Gaming and the other ended in the last place. This will be an interesting match to see if 100 Thieves’ new roster changes have proven successful.
Afterward, OpTic Gaming will face Clutch Gaming, which are both teams that placed in the bottom four. Despite rumors that Clutch Gaming would be rebranding to the Dignitas name for the Summer Split, it hasn’t happened yet. Interestingly, OpTic Gaming is also the other team that is possibly facing a rebranding if Immortals happens to purchase the LCS franchise spot.
Finally, Golden Guardians are pitted against Echo Fox. Golden Guardians did significantly better during the 2019 Spring Split than it did during the 2018 NA LCS Spring and Summer Splits. The same roster will play with Spring Split additions Kim “Olleh” Joo-sung, Henrik “Froggen” Hansen, and Kevin “Hauntzer” Yarnell.
Similarly, Echo Fox will enter the Summer Split with the same roster of all new players that joined during the spring. The North American esports organization did face some controversy recently with derogatory comments from one of its investors, but it shouldn’t impact professional play.
