Electronic Arts has announced its plans for the Apex Legends Global Series Championship, which will start with the Last Chance Qualifier on April 25 and the group stage on June 1. Five regional championship qualifications will take into account the Winter Curciut, cumulative ALGS points and the Last Chance Qualifier. The total prize pool for the event is $1 million across the five regions.

Forty teams will compete in the expanded field across North America and EMEA Championships. The entire event will be held online and streamed through the official PlayApex Twitch and YouTube accounts.

Format and prize pool placements

The group stage for each Global Series Championship region will be a round robin format. Each group will compete against the others before total points across the stage are used to advance 20 teams into their region’s Championship Finals. Each group will have up to 10 teams with the bigger regions, North America and EMEA, having a total of 40 teams participating. Smaller regions, APAC North, APAC South, and South America, will have 30.

The Grand Finals will use a match point format to determine placing and prize distribution.

Just like with the field of teams, the prize pool for bigger regions will be slightly larger as well. Noth America and EMEA will pay out $102,000 to the winners and scale down to $1,500 for the bottom five teams. For the smaller regions, the top end will be a $68,100 payout for APAC North and South and $42,000 for South America. The bottom five in those regions will be $900 and $600 respectively.

There will also be a bonus for the players with the most kills in the finals, the Apex Predator bonus. The Apex Predator will be awarded $4,800 in North America and EMEA, $2,400 in both APAC regions and $1,600 in South America. If players tie for the bonus then the prize will be divided equally.
