Apex Legends Season 2 is upon us! Kings Canyon has been reshaped by the intrusion of Leviathans and flyers. New legend Wattson has arrived, and players will now have access to the L-Star legendary EMG! Read on for a breakdown of the first Apex Legends patch notes of the season!
Challenges and new content types
The new content types Respawn teased are Skydiving emotes, music packs, and loading screens. These will all be unlocked through the Battle Pass. Players will also get a lot of free loot through the new Daily and Weekly Challenges.

Weapon changes
Weapons are receiving a lot of balance changes. Shotgun ammo will take up more backpack space, and energy ammo guns can now equip extended magazines. To make up for that, the default magazine sizes are being reduced. Below are the rest of the incoming weapon balance changes.
- Flatline damage 16 -> 19
- P2020 damage 12 -> 13, New hop-up: Hammerpoint Rounds, deals increased unshielded damage
- Mozambique New hop-up: Hammerpoint Rounds, deals increased unshielded damage
- Triple Take choke time with Precision Choke equipped 1.5 -> 1.1
- Alternator damage 13 -> 15, improved recoil mitigation from barrel attachments. New hop-up: Disruptor Rounds, deals increased damage to shields
- RE-45 New hop-up: Disruptor Rounds, deals increased damage to shields
- Kraber damage 125 -> 145, headshot multiplier x2.0 -> x2.05, slightly increased rarity
Finally, the Arc Star throwable has been redesigned to deal heavier damage to the primary target, but reduced splash damage.
Legend changes
Most Apex Legends Legends have also been tweaked. Below is a full list of legend balance changes.
Gibraltar’s fortified damage reduction increased from 10% to 15%. Fortified legends are immune to the slowing effects of weapon fire. Dome of Protection tactical last 3 seconds longer as well.
Caustic’s fortified damage reduction increased from 10% to 15%. Fortified legends are immune to the slowing effects of weapon fire. Nox Gas slow is further reduced by 50% on squad mates.
Wraith, Lifeline, and Pathfinder now have a “Low Profile trait,” meaning all incoming damage is increased by 5%.
Bloodhound’s Eye of the Allfather tactical now tracks scanned Legends in real time for 1.5 seconds. Angle of the scan is increased to 110 degrees, from 90. Tracker passive picks up clues left up to 90 seconds ago, up from 60.
Mirage’s Vanishing Act ultimate can now be canceled early. There is a slight delay when disabling it.
Lastly, Lifeline’s D.O.C. heal drone now gets destroyed after 2 damage ticks by the circle. This should reduce the possibility of pacifist victories.
Exploits and hit registration fixes
Apex players have been complaining about netcode and hit registration issues for over a month. It seems Respawn is addressing the situation. The patch notes indicate “improved server and client performance when firing weapons, especially for multi-projectile weapons like shotguns and TripleTake.” They also specifically mention a bug fix that addresses hit registration issues when taking damage.
More importantly, Wraith’s infinite portal exploit has been fixed. The Season 2Â Apex Legends patch notes state that Respawn has “fixed an exploit that allowed players to place extra Dimensional Portals” when playing with Wraith.
