Arslan “Arslan Ash” Siddique is your new EVO 2019 world champion for Tekken 7, bringing home Pakistan’s first world championship. Arslan burst onto the scene at the OUG Tournament 2018 where he defeated Tekken legend Jae-Min “Knee” Bae and never lost a game. He then went on to win EVO Japan 2019, taking out big names like Jimmyjtran, Book, Chanel, LowHigh, and lastly AK with a bracket reset to win it all. He has surprised the FGC once again by defeating Knee in the grand finals and becoming the EVO 2019 champion.

The new God of Tekken

Arslan has been a top fighting game player since his appearance in 2018. He was ranked number one for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and King of Fighters XIII. Arslan says that he has been playing fighting games competitively since he was 11 years old. In an interview with ESPN back in February of this year, Arslan talked about the struggles he faced in making it to EVO Japan. His story is one of perseverance and the drive to overcome any obstacle. He traveled on five different flights for over two days and made it to the tournament only an hour before it started. No excuses were made by Arslan though. He went on to dominate the event despite his predicament. Arslan, even after his EVO Japan 2019 win, still came into this event as an underdog. After his win at EVO 2019, I don’t think Arslan will be underestimated anymore.

As we’ve explained, the Evolution Championship Series — EVO — is the biggest fighting game tournament of the year. In 2019, it houses nine games on the main stage along with other titles as side events. We reported earlier that Bonchan defeated Big Bird to win Street Fighter V EVO 2019, and that was another slugfest, so check out the details.

Stay tuned for the results of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at EVO 2019.
