Astralis Group has announced the organization has hired Anders Hørsholt as its co-Chief Executive Officer. He will help operate the company alongside CEO Nikolaj Nyholm. Astralis split from previous parent company RFRSH Entertainment in August. This change was made so that RFRSH could focus on the BLAST Pro Series tournaments and other BLAST ventures.

Anders Hørsholt

“Anders will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization and together with CCO Jakob Lund Kristensen, Sports Director Kasper Hvidt and VP of Brand and Comms Steen Laursen, Anders will continue the work positioning Astralis Group as a global leader in the esports industry,” said Nikolaj Nyholm, the founder of Astralis Group, in a release. “We will focus on fan relations, content and commercial activities in order to strengthen both the business, but also the facilities and performance tools around the individual players and teams.”

Anders Hørsholt began his career at PARKEN Venues first as a Director, then as CEO. He moved to companies like fitness and wellness company Fitness DK, storytelling and brand loyalty agency X LARGE Copenhagen, and finally F.C. Copenhagen as CEO. F.C. Copenhagen is one of the top three football clubs in Denmark and has won 12 Danish championships.

He later also joined North Esports, an esports organization created as a joint venture between F.C. Copenhagen and Nordisk Film, as Chairman of the Board. His most recent role was at MTG Nordic, where he oversaw the development of esports sports games in Europe.

Astralis Group

“I introduced esports in FC Copenhagen where we launched North around the same time as Astralis became a part of RFRSH and I have watched how the organization around Astralis has managed to position themselves not only in the media landscape, but also performance-wise and commercially,” said Anders Hørsholt on his new position. “I will become a part of a very strong and experienced organization, which is a challenge I am really looking forward to taking on.”

Astralis Group is the parent company of Danish esports organization Astralis, Spanish esports organization Origen, and FIFA brand Future FC. Astralis is known for its top world-ranked Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team. Origen owns a slot in the League of Legends European Championship franchise league, which placed 8th in the 2019 LEC Summer Split. It was announced that Fatih “FIFAÜstun” Üstün will also join Future FC in October.

Hørsholt will assist Nikolaj Nyholm, who is a well-known technology entrepreneur and investor from Copenhagen, Denmark. With their combined experience in both a traditional sports environment and esports, Astralis hopes to break new boundaries in the esports space.
