Atari has announced an interesting new venture that will merge the virtual world with the real world. Atari Hotels will partner with designers to create a unique concept for all gamers, and they also plan to have spaces for hosting esports events.

The first hotel will be constructed in Phoenix, Arizona. They currently have plans to build seven more afterward, set in locations such as Seattle, Las Vegas, and Chicago. Many institutions will be fundamental in the design and development of these hotels. The most prominent will be the GSD Group, a company that specializes in revitalizing old brands in new ways, and Napoleon Smith III, a producer for 2014’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film reboot.

Atari highlighted that they are “thrilled to partner with GSD Group and True North Studio to build the first-ever Atari branded hotels across the United States.” Their end goal, however, is to “build a space that will be much more than just a place to stay.”

Napoleon Smith III commented that they want to give guests a “nostalgic and retro meets modern look.” GSD Group CEO Shelly Murphy reiterated this point, highlighting that they aim to “[offer] gamers of all ages the ultimate in immersive entertainment and in every aspect of gaming.” As such, these hotels will target a wide audience by including classic games that Atari is known for and merging that with more modern ideas. An example of this is the integration of virtual reality and augmented reality into the hotels.

Working alongside the GSD Group and numerous other institutions, the Woz Innovation Foundation is set to develop the first hotel. Meanwhile, fans can already sign up to become Atari Hotel members online. Members will receive exclusive discounts on stays, events, and merchandise once the hotels have been built.

Ultimately, the aim of the hotels is to embrace the ever-increasing popularity of video games in today’s society. This will bring people from the gaming community together and allow them to share their interests. To keep up with further news, make sure to stick with Daily Esports.
