After Banjo-Kazooie was officially announced to be Challenger Pack 3, we can finally share a release date with you following today’s Nintendo Direct. The classic duo will be available to join the fight in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate today! After the Nintendo Direct ended we got a video from director Masahiro Sakurai showing off how to use Banjo-Kazooie in the game. The duo first made their debut back in 1998 on the Nintendo 64. Banjo-Kazooie is actually now owned by Microsoft, being a Rare IP. It’s great to see them collaborating with Nintendo like this. Additionally, SNK character Terry Bogard will be Challenger Pack 4.

Original theme music from the game was remixed specifically for Smash Bros. Ultimate so it wouldn’t feel out of place. Also, their Final Smash is cool in that it was the finishing move used against the final boss Gruntilda in the original game. Banjo-Kazooie’s stage Spiral Mountain actually moves and shifts during the battle; items will also move as the mountain does. Other characters from the Banjo-Kazooie games make cameos throughout the stage. Some even assist you.

Banjo-Kazooie hits Smash Ultimate today, more new DLC fighters coming

We got a surprise announcement during the Direct today as well: Nintendo isn’t done once Challenger Pack 5 debuts. It turns out more DLC fighters are on the way! We can also confirm that Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury is joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In the Banjo-Kazooie video, a short look at in-game footage of Terry was displayed.

You can play with Banjo-Kazooie soon tonight for $5.99 USD on its own. If you have Fighters Pass purchased already, it’s available tonight for download. Besides the release of this DLC fighter, a new software update is also available. The final new mode for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is also now being added and it’s a well-known one: Home-Run Contest. Let us know how you feel about all this Smash news in the comments below!
