The German Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) player Fatih “gob b” Dayik has announced retirement from the competitive scene. Meanwhile, BIG Clan welcome back two former players into their roster: Owen “Smooya” Butterfield and Johannes “nex” Maget. On top of that, Denis “denis” Howell has been benched from the lineup.

The German legend: gob b steps down

Gob b was the very first German CSGO player that signed a full-time professional contract following the transition from Counter-Strike 1.6. He’s been on the roster of multiple teams such as mousesports, Team Alternate, or NRG; however, he is probably most known for his involvement while on BIG Clan.

Respected for very high game-sense and intelligent play, gob b may not have been the flashiest of players, but definitely a fantastic in-game leader to have on any team that keeps himself and his teammates poised.

His decision to step down at this time may have to do with the extremely poor performances of his team in the last couple of months. BIG Clan was expected to achieve big things when İsmailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş came on board. The team, however, has had a streak of disappointing performances, failing to even qualify for major events.

Denis is benched, smooya and nex reunite at BIG Clan

It was a hard hit for the fans after smooya was removed from BIG’s roster. Loved by many, the British AWPer was known for ballsy plays in-game while retaining a candid and witty persona in interviews. Nevertheless, the 19-year-old is back in action with immediate effect.

Additionally, Johannes “nex” Maget was formerly benched and replaced by XANTARES due to surgery. The player will return to the squad after he is fully fit to play, which reportedly should be in the near future. Nex will replace Denis “denis” Howell, a former Sprout and mousesports player.

Will BIG Clan return to their winning ways?

With nex and smooya back on the roster, the formation will be somewhat similar to that of the time in which they were considered a major threat on the scene. Despite that threat not being as dominant as that of other teams, BIG was considered to be up there amongst the likes of mousesports, Natus Vincere, or Cloud9 back in the day. Hopefully, this is a sign of better things to come for the team.
