The Multiplayer Beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 begins later this week. The beta will feature a handful of maps, game modes, and content in general. It is expected to provide the larger portion of the game than any Call of Duty multiplayer beta of the past. The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 official Twitter account just confirmed another portion of the content that will be available during the weekend beta: scorestreaks. Check out the Tweet and video below.

Multiplayer Beta Scorestreak Rewards
Fans of the original Call of Duty: Black Ops will recognize the exploding remote-controlled RC-XD. In fact, that game actually shipped with a collector’s edition featuring a fully operational RC-XD (minus the explosive ability).
The Hellstorm Missile and Strike Team were two others acknowledged by the Call of Duty team. The Hellstorm Missile is fairly self-explanatory. But, the Strike Team does present an entirely fresh idea to the world of Call of Duty scorestreaks. According to GameRant, the Strike Team action suggests that two AI soldiers (like we saw in the brief trailer) are dropped into the map and “attempt to clear out enemies in an area chosen by the player.” Let’s hope these AI operatives are more skilled than Call of Duty player base or receive some sort of buff making them difficult to kill. Otherwise, I can’t see this streak being effective.
A highlight from the video that wasn’t directly mentioned in the tweet is the appearance of the four-legged drone. GameRant reports from others with previous Black Ops 4 experience that the robot is named Mantis. The robot is a “high-cost scorestreak” that the player can control. Or, if the player so chooses, the little death machine can function on its own.
Not one, but two betas
It’s possible that other scorestreaks will make it into the beta this weekend. However, we won’t know until that point. Now that Call of Duty has shifted to an entirely multiplayer experience, Activision and Treyarch likely realize that both upcoming betas are significant for the community. Fans of the single-player campaigns will undoubtedly walk away from the franchise. So, it’s up to the developer to show the fans of online multiplayer games why Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the best choice. I suspect that the battle royale display will carry a lot of weight given the mode’s popularity in the current climate of online multiplayer games.
The Multiplayer Beta begins this Friday, August 3. Another beta focused on Blackout mode (Call of Duty’s version of battle royale) will hit sometime in September.
