Blast Pro Series returns to CSGO, this time in Madrid, Spain. With a $250,000 prize pool, the tournament features six teams: Astralis, Cloud9, Na’Vi, Giants, ENCE, and NiP. The teams will have a series of best-of-one matches before moving on to a best-of-three final over two days in Spain. Here are the most interesting results from the first day of Blast Pro Madrid.
ENCE sweep Na’Vi
One of the most anticipated matches of the day at Blast Pro Series saw ENCE obliterate Na’Vi on Mirage. Aleksi “allu” Jalli had way too much fun on the map as he finished with 29 kills and just 8 deaths after the encounter.
The terrorist side was a nightmare for Na’Vi, with ENCE pulling ahead all the way to 12-3 in the half. The sturdy defense saw allu do magic with the AWP and stellar performances from the likes of Jani “Aerial” Jussila and co., who would apply pressure early on around mid and ramp. Even Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev had trouble crackling through the sturdy wall set up by ENCE, getting 14 frags in the match.
The ct-side wasn’t any better for Na’Vi. Right off the bat ENCE stormed A-site and secured the site with aggression and allu getting a 3k. Na’Vi managed to get one round before getting knocked out on Mirage 16-4.
Astralis deal with NiP
Astralis returns to Blast against NiP on their first map, Dust2. Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen didn’t hesitate as he’d get a 4K on the very first pistol, creating the momentum necessary on Astralis’ ct-side. NiP finally broke through to get a round for themselves with only Desert Eagles after five straight rounds went in favor of Astralis. Following a couple of close rounds, Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund finished off the half with a fantastic 3K. The score was 9-6 in favor of Astralis.
Astralis yet again got to work quickly. The Danes secured the first five rounds on their t-side before NiP could retaliate with two rounds of their own. Despite Jonas “Lekr0” Olofsson’s effort, NiP failed to fight off the Danish terrorist side and lost Dust2 16-8. Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth was joined by dupreeh at the top of the leaderboard in terms of fragging power.
NiP find their drive on Nuke against ENCE
On their second match of the Blast Pro day, NiP finally found their mojo on Nuke. Dennis “dennis” Edman had way too much fun, it seemed like. The Swede went on a rampage of 27 frags and just 8 deaths, similarly to allu on Mirage.
Things started off on the right foot for NiP with Fredrik “REZ” Sterner getting a 3K on the first pistol. ENCE quickly retaliated on a full buy and got three rounds on their t-side before getting denied a single round for the remainder of the half. The NiP squad was in full control of Nuke on ct-side, denying bomb plants, and dennis on the AWP was menacing. ENCE failed to find an answer; allu was especially lackluster.
On ct-side it seemed like ENCE may have finally woken up as they managed to snatch the first two rounds by getting bomb defusals. However, they did not wake up enough. On their full buys, the NiP boys were back in action and confidently took the last four rounds necessary to get the win on Nuke. What better way is there to finish off a map than with dennis getting an ace on the last round?
