Overwatch League franchise Boston Uprising announced they have brought on former Florida Mayhem and Misfits coach Vytis “Mineral” Lasaitis as Head Coach. This is the organization’s first head coach since 16 months ago.

Vytis “Mineral “Lasaitis
Mineral is a Swedish coach who began his career as a player on Ventus Gaming. He transitioned to organizations like Experiment, the Balkan Bears, 2sTroNk, Luminosity Gaming, and then Misfits. He joined Misfits in 2017, where he moved to a coach position in August of 2017. Afterward, he joined Florida Mayhem and coached the roster from November of 2011 until April of 2019. When the organization decided to transition to a full Korean roster, he was released and Sang-min “INSIGHT” Oh came on.
“Following a brief hiatus, I am very excited to return to the Overwatch League for 2020 under the Boston Uprising. I always strive to learn and get better,” said Mineral on the new opportunity. “I’m confident Boston will provide an environment for me to do just that, and I am thrilled to be given the opportunity. The team has experienced both [the] highs and lows since the league’s inception, and I will give my absolute all to ensure that the Uprising returns to the top in 2020.”

Mineral’s addition to the Boston Uprising management means the organization will finally have a head coach. After Dae-hee “Crusty” Park left the Overwatch League franchise in May of 2018, Boston Uprising only had the support of three assistant coaches instead. These included Jordan “Gunba” Graham, Rollon “Mini” Hamelin, and Jackson “Shake” Kaplan. However, with the hiring of Head Coach Mineral, Gunba revealed that he would be looking for a new home during the upcoming 2020 Overwatch League season.

“We’re excited to add Mineral to the coaching staff here at the Uprising,” said Chris “HuK” Loranger, the President of Gaming at Boston Uprising, in a statement. “We believe Mineral can provide the leadership needed to push the team forward and are hopeful for a strong 2020 season.”
The Boston Uprising finished the 2019 Overwatch League Regular Season in 19th place. The team started off decently in Stage 1 in eighth place with 4 wins and 3 losses. However, the organization then placed 13th in Stage 2, 16th in Stage 3, and then dead last in Stage 4 with 0 wins.
