American video game developer Bungie has introduced a limited edition t-shirt to help support the Australian bushfire relief effort. This is the latest charity effort from the Destiny 2 creators. Previous campaigns have been hosted for the relief efforts of Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey, along with several earthquakes in countries like Haiti, Nepal, and Japan.

Bungie launches charity effort

The limited-edition t-shirt will be available from Bungie for both the North American and European regions between Jan. 16 and Feb. 18. While no t-shirt design has been released yet, the developer has also showcased an exclusive emblem for Destiny 2, nicknamed “Star Light, Star Bright.” The emblem’s redemption code will be provided with each purchase of the shirt.

All proceeds will go to support the Australian fire relief effort. Half of the revenue will be donated to Australian wildlife rescue organization Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service (WIRES). The other half will be donated to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service, which serves the area most affected by the rampant fires.

Australia’s massive bushfire has taken over 2,300 square miles, or around 1.5 million acres, and resulted in the deaths of at least 26 people. In addition, the bushfires have harmed over a billion wildlife in the process, with some species possibly becoming extinct as a result.

With the idea of doing a good deed and an in-game cosmetic reward available, players have stepped up in many past instances. This in-game cosmetic may not be the best looking to some, but the emblem is something readily available for Bungie to make on short notice and also for a great cause.

Bungie will disclose more details in next week’s “This Week at Bungie” post, which will describe how the fundraiser will work. Have you helped out in any way for the Australian bushfire relief effort? Let us know, and keep up with Daily Esports for all of your latest coverage.
