It’s a new day and another new Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 update is here to shake things up ever so slightly. We’re going to highlight the big items. For a more comprehensive look at everything that is included in this update, ranging from the new map variations to stability and gameplay tweaks, be sure to check out the official posting from Treyarch on Reddit.
Before we get into the big portions of this update, please also note that these items are only for PS4 at this time. The tweak and fixes for stability and gameplay are effective for all platforms.
Safeguard
A Safeguard playlist has been added to the ranks of possible playlist selections in the competitive multiplayer arena of Black Ops 4 for PS4. The Safeguard play mode is one that Call of Duty fans will be familiar with, but this is the first time it’s appeared in Black Ops 4. Simply put, players must escort a robot into “enemy territory” in order to claim victory. They must also defend against this type of assault as well from the opposing side.
New map variations
Seaside Sunset and the Firing Range Night maps are now included in the map lineup. While these two maps are already playable, the sunset and nighttime settings will change things up a bit from a visual standpoint. As a note, Treyarch was sure to highlight that these maps are free to all players as part of this update.
Blackout
The Bowie Knife is obtainable in Blackout mode. Additionally, character missions are available to unlock Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo, and Richtofen. Also, for those who may have missed out on the limited Blightfather event, that zombie boss has returned on the PS4. So grab a few pals, squad up, and head to the graveyard southeast of the Asylum for a hefty boss fight. But beware of other players attempting to do the same thing!
That’s the gist of the major items for this round of updates. Let us know in the comments if there’s anything you hope to see in the future. And better yet, let Treyarch know on Reddit as well. They seem awfully concerned with player feedback, and that is a wonderful thing. Take advantage of having a developer that is open and communicative with its audience!
