A new Call of Duty: Mobile mode is apparently being released to early beta-testers. Only available to certain region-specific Android users, this early beta has most of the upcoming features for COD: Mobile. Such features include a multiplayer, zombies, and now battle royale mode.
The battle royale mode is a new addition to the early-access beta. While many expected a carbon copy of the Blackout map, it is far from that. Thanks to some of these beta users, we now have our first look at the COD: Mobile battle royale map.
Also coming out today are more details about the new mode, which includes a class-system and a POV selector.
What does the map look like?
As you can see above, there are many recognizable locations on this map. Though there are some new areas, most named locations are extremely familiar to long-time fans.
A mixture of both Modern Warfare and Black Ops maps, the island has something for everyone. Developer Tencent obviously wanted to stray away from the Blackout map as much as possible with the locations. However, the overall design of the island remains similar to Blackout.
It will be very interesting to see how all these old maps come together. Although some — like Firing Range and Standoff — have been seen in newer titles, others — like Estate — haven’t been featured in any recent games.
Other details for COD: Mobile Battle Royale
Along with the map being revealed, other in-game details have leaked as well. The first of these is an all-new class system that features six loadouts for players to choose from.
Call of Duty has long been known for its create-a-class system. A once-innovative feature, it is now in almost every multiplayer game and will be brought to this new battle royale.
According to this screenshot, Tencent is allowing players to take on a certain role. Similar to Battlefield, the options include Medic, Scout, Clown, Ninja, Defender, and Mechanic. These classes will come with two abilities specific to each role. Keep in mind that, as this is a beta, more classes could appear in the final product.
The last detail to come out is a feature new to Call of Duty. Thanks to @Chivy_rodriguez, we see that Call of Duty: Mobile battle royale will have a POV selector.
Although this looks to be a battle royale exclusive feature, it is great to see nonetheless. Older titles had a Third Person option, but it has been missing from Call of Duty for quite some time. It recently appeared in Black Ops 4 with the Spectre specialist, though only for a short duration. Maybe Activision has some plans to bring Third Person to back into the fold with its newborn inclusions.
That’s all of the details we have on COD: Mobile Battle Royale at the moment!
