The leaks have been pouring in recently in regards to the deeply rumored “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered.” We’ve seen some conflicting reports as to what Activision will do with the title in the past couple weeks. However, each leak stated that Modern Warfare 2 Remastered would release as its own title. Unfortunately, yet another leak is now contradicting all of this. The rumor comes from the same person who correctly leaked multiple aspects of Modern Warfare, which gives this statement some credibility.

Modern Warfare 2 Remastered not arriving as its own game?

The leaker in question, Okami13, seems to have a credible inside source within Activision. In the past, he has accurately leaked a significant amount of information on Modern Warfare and Warzone. So, when he comes out with some additional details, it’s worthwhile to give it consideration.

A couple of weeks ago, Okami tweeted that Modern Warfare 2 Remastered would be releasing this year with multiplayer. This was further backed up when a South Korean rating agency filed a publication for the Campaign last week.

Though fast-forward to now, and Okami is reporting something entirely new. According to the leaker, Activision won’t be releasing Modern Warfare 2 Remastered at all. Instead, the company will take MW2 maps and add them to Modern Warfare multiplayer.

Obviously, this is disappointing news to any fan of Call of Duty in general if true. We’ve seen a plethora of remastered maps before, which is why fans were hoping for an entirely new release.

Of course, these are just leaks, so we can’t take anything as fact. There are so many rumors regarding a Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, so there’s no guarantee which ones, if any, are entirely correct. We’ll just have to wait for Activision to release some official details.
