It seems as though the numerous leaks of Modern Warfare 4 are now dead in the water. In a leak by Kotaku reporter Jason Schreier, COD 2019 by developer Infinity Ward is simply called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Since the summer of 2018, the thought process was that COD 2019 would be Modern Warfare 4. Infinity Ward hasn’t had the same sparkling success they had with the MW series in their past two games.
So with their recent mediocrity, it made sense they would returns fans to the glory days. While we are now 100 percent certain of the name, we still have no other confirmed information.
I can confirm this is true, and that it's hilarious. The first one was "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" so obviously the fourth one is "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare." Video games are absurd https://t.co/Ghb1m2srC4

Another Modern Warfare?
Back in 2007, Activision released Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Though a lot of the community is excited about another Modern Warfare game, they’re a bit puzzled about the naming process.
Typically, franchises don’t repeat title names. It gets too confusing if one or more games have the same name. However, Activision clearly isn’t worried about this, as 12 years later they are releasing their second game just called Modern Warfare.
While we still have no official reveal date, we do have some additional information coming from multiple sources. As this game doesn’t have a number attached to its title, we can hypothesize that it will be a prequel to the first MW. This would mean the return of many iconic Campaign characters and multiplayer weapons/maps.
However, fans shouldn’t expect a full-on reboot of the MW games. In another tweet by Jason Schreier, he calls COD 2019 a “soft reboot” for the MW series.
"Soft reboot"

When can we expect a reveal?
Although we have no official reveal time, there have been some potential leaks about a reveal date. According to sources from @GamingINTEL, May 30 is the expected date for a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reveal. Though, there is no time and place as of right now.
Take this information with a grain of salt, as much of the leaked information about this Call of Duty has turned out false, and GamingINTEL in particular has questionable methods for acquiring its “leaks.”
We will keep you updated on our Call of Duty page if any other leaks or information comes along.
