The moment everyone has waited for has finally come. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is now available to play worldwide, as North America is the last region to gain access. Officially launching at 9:00 p.m. Eastern, Modern Warfare is arguably the most anticipated Call of Duty since 2015’s Black Ops 3. Millions of fans are sure to be hopping into the game tonight and throughout the weekend, although some have been playing for two days already.

If you pre-ordered digitally and downloaded the files, you can hop in right now and start playing. However, if you pre-ordered at a retailer, you may have to wait until midnight or shortly before to get your hands on the game.

Modern Warfare finally releases to the world

It’s safe to say that this is the most exciting time of the year for Call of Duty fans. A new game has come out, and the community is dying to play and experience Modern Warfare in its entirety. With three distinct modes – campaign, multiplayer, and Spec Ops – fans will have plenty to do.

Of course, the most popular of the three modes is online multiplayer. This is what a majority of fans buy the game for, so it’s fair to assume this is where a large portion of the player base will be. With that said, it’s also fair to assume that there will be some server problems on release night. As millions of players are trying to play at the same time, overloaded server issues are sure to pop up.

Some Call of Duty titles have handled this load well in the past. Others, like COD: WWII, did not have as much luck, as players were sitting at the loading screen for hours on launch night. Hopefully, that does not happen with Modern Warfare. If it does, Infinity Ward should hopefully be able to fix it quickly.

Be sure to let us know which mode you’re playing first! Keep up with Daily Esports for all your Modern Warfare coverage.
