Competitive ruling against G2 Esports and Movistar Riders announced

G2 received an official warning, Movistar had three points deducted from VRL Spain: Rising

The term “Unauthorized Communications” has been heard amongst VALORANT fans a lot lately, especially after the incident T1 had with their coach. Today, European teams G2 Esports and Movistar Riders have been issued a competitive ruling from Riot Games due to violating the same “Unauthorized Communications” rule, 7.2.11.

One of the interesting parts of these rulings is the varied punishment. Despite breaking the same rule, G2 received only an official warning. Meanwhile, Movistar Riders have received a three point deduction for VRL Spain: Rising, which is equivalent to a one-match loss.

These decisions were explained in the rulings. G2’s coach Daniil “pipsoN” Meshcheryakov only broke the unauthorized communications rule for celebratory purposes which did not lead to any advantage in the game. On the other hand, Movistar’s coach Lucas “LRojo” Rojo provided tactical instructions while the match was going on, “when he could only do that during a tactical pause.”

Movistar Riders issued a statement about the ruling from their official Twitter, saying they respect the punishment and apologize to their community for the incident.

“From the club, we respect the sanction imposed by Riot and apologize to the community for what happened. We will continue working to get to the top of the VALORANT competition,” said the translated tweet.

pipsoN also issued a statement, apologizing for what happened.

“I would like to apologize for my actions during the VALORANT Champions Tour Open Qualifier. I got over excited and unmuted to react to a sick clutch – which violated Riot’s rules on comms outside of pauses. Although Riot has issued me with a warning, I’d like to clarify that this was unintentional and won’t happen again in the future,” said G2’s coach in a Twitter response to the official VALORANT Champions Tour EMEA account.
