Complexity Gaming CEO aims to build CSGO superteam

After a disappointing result at 2019’s StarLadder Berlin Major, the CEO of North American esports organization Complexity Gaming, Jason Lake, took to Twitter. He posted a tweet about the organization’s less than average results at the recent Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event and said that the “results won’t be tolerated.”

Complexity Gaming lost games to Kazakhstan-based organization AVANGAR, Ukrainian organization HellRaisers, and Grayhound Gaming from Australia. Although the team won against Chinese team TYLOO, the organization was still knocked out of the competition with a 20th – 22nd finish. While Complexity Gaming isn’t considered a top tier team, most expected the team to at least make it through the ‘New Challengers Stage’.

Lake received some backlash at first from the above tweet. However, he later clarified that he’d talked to the players before giving the statement.

Complexity Gaming

At the end of the day, an esports organization is still a business. The main goal of an organization and business is to win. On top of that, Complexity Gaming got its start as an organization in CSGO. It used to be considered one of the best.

While there was still some conflict, many fans on Twitter agreed with his statement. They shared their concern about how players on the team looked like all they cared about was collecting the salary, rather than results. Some claimed that many of the players have mediocre skill level. Fans have also spoken up that the current players aren’t brandable or marketable either. It may sound harsh, since most of the players have been with the organization for a long time. However, athletes at the highest level on the Olympic teams are treated in a similar way. They are cut from the team once they can no longer perform at a certain level.

Since the tweet, neither the organization nor CEO Jason Lake has provided further comments. Who do you think will be part of the new Complexity Gaming CSGO roster? Let us know in the comments below. Keep up with Daily Esports for all of your Counter-Strike: Global Offensive coverage.
