In today’s Fortnite Twitch Rivals tournament for content creators, Jack “CouRageJD” and a handful of others quit midway through the event. While the first part of the tournament went smoothly, the second half ended in nothing but rage. Even if you didn’t watch the event, you can probably guess what caused this rage… the B.R.U.T.E.
The continued support for the mech is one of the most questionable moves by a developer in recent memory. Epic Games is singlehandedly destroying Fortnite‘s popularity with their stubbornness regarding their Season X vehicle. Not only are the viewership numbers down, but high-profile streamers are now giving up a potential $400,000 to not play Fortnite because of the mech.
CouRageJD goes on a rage-filled rant
Even through Fortnite‘s worst times, CouRageJD is one of the few streamers who continues to play. He has said multiple times that he “loves this game so much” and through the thick and thin logs in every day.
However, in the Twitch Rivals tournament, his optimism seemingly ran out. Playing with fellow streamer Tim “Timthetatman” John Betar in the tournament, CouRage lost it during the second half of the event. The first half was played on a Creative map with only a dozen or so other players.
The second half of the tournament was played on the regular Fortnite map. This means that every item, including the Mech, was fair game to use. While sitting in a house with great loot and materials, CouRage and Tim attempted to avoid any mech and wait for the endgame. This, of course, did not work in their favor.

Even though they were fully equipped with Junk Rifts and materials, the duo was no match for the B.R.U.T.E. After CouRage and Tim are back in the lobby, the 100 Thieves streamer called it quits on the $400,000 tournament. Credit to FortniteBRLive for the clip.

It’s not hard to see why CouRage would end his tournament early. The community previously tried to take a stance with the hashtag #RemoveTheMech, but Epic, in turn, released a blog stating they wouldn’t nerf or remove the vehicle. Now, CouRage and other top streamers are simply not going to play until this is resolved.

When the top Fortnite streamer and World Cup champion quit the game, it’s time for a change. Although, Epic Games is one of the most stubborn developers in the industry. Will this, along with the drop in viewership, be enough to turn the tides? Only time will tell.
