CS:GO ranking changes: MIBR, HellRaisers, compLexity rise as the Astralis era begins

With the FACEIT Major in London coming to an end, interesting changes have come up in the world team CS:GO ranking according to HLTV. Below you can find the most compelling ranking changes that have been put in place following the results of the Major.

MIBR finally make top 5

After having multiple disappointing results prior to the London Major, MIBR hop into 4th place. Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo and co. have successfully reached the semi-finals where Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev and his Na’Vi were simply too much. Despite losing the semi-final 2-0, the American-Brazilian mix finally proved that their daring roster changes were not for nothing. It took quite a while for MIBR to get going. Fortunately, they did not disappoint in London and have shown that with more practice they can once again become a force to be reckoned with. The switch to English instead of Portuguese communication may have been a barrier at the beginning, especially for Marcelo “coldzera” David. However, we can see that MIBR is finally finding their stride, especially after bringing coach Janko “YNk” Paunović on board. Hopefully, we will get to see more of the same from this extremely talented roster.

mousesports fall to #7

Can chrisJ turn things back around after mousesports’ disappointing appearance at the Major?

An extremely disappointing showing at the Major led the European mix to fall from #5 to #7. At first glance, this does not look like a big deal; they are still in top 10. However, mousesports finishing last at the Major alongside Winstrike is not a good representation of a top-tier team. Of course, their demise was not against lower-tier teams. The European formation failed to overcome NiP, MIBR, and FaZe in what seemed like a very unlucky draw. Unfortunately, the problem is that mousesports just could not stand their ground losing 12-16, 6-16, and 8-16 respectively, meaning that the matches weren’t quite as close as expected from the audience. Time will tell if bringing Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski was the right decision for the roster; however, following the Major, not much good can be said about the future of this organization. Hopefully, it was just a one-time fluke.

HellRaisers reach top 10

The CIS team, HellRaisers, has had a phenomenal run at the Major. HellRaisers reached the quarter-finals where they lost to Team Liquid. Despite that, making the Champions stage must be a huge achievement for this organization. Although all the members on the roster played well, their success must be attributed to Issa “ISSAA” Murad and Özgür “woxic” Eker. The duo has had on and off days where one would step up while the other would have a quieter day. Nevertheless, both players stepped up big time for their team and are the main reason behind HellRaisers reaching the #10 spot and the Major playoffs.

compLexity stun everyone, take #11 spot

The American team, compLexity, has been the biggest surprise of the Major. Coming out of nowhere, the team breezed through the Challenger stage with a 3-0 score. Somehow, they managed to replicate that at the Legends stage, going undefeated for six straight games at the Major. Their dream came to a halt at the quarter-finals where MIBR was simply a more experienced and better opponent. Regardless of that, compLexity has reached the unimaginable, and Rory “dephh” Jackson made history by being the first British person ever to reach the playoffs of a Major. Surely we will see more of the same from this talent-filled roster in the future.

Virtus.pro continue their downfall

Following months and months of constant troubles with the legendary roster, Virtus.pro have fallen all the way to #28. PaweÅ‚ “byali” BieliÅ„ski’s has officially left the roster, as he said he would after the end of the Major. Fans were hopefully to see a spark of Virtus.pro at the Major one last time. Unfortunately, the Polish team got blown out 0-3 in the Challenger stage and were among the worst teams at the tournament. It is sad to see once one of the best teams in the world get battered in such manner. It is a mystery what the future holds for Virtus.pro. Let us hope that we will get to see Vp back in a Major one day.

The Astralis era

The FACEIT Major final pitted Astralis against Na’Vi in what seemed to be one of the best finals ever. What we got instead was a one-sided Astralis victory, where even for the immensely talented Na’Vi, the Danes were just too much. Astralis utilizes amazing teamplay and focuses on tactics rather than individual skill, an attribute that is more relatable to Na’Vi.

Astralis already had a fantastic year. The victory at the Major is just the sweetest cherry on the cake. Right now, there is absolutely no team left that can overcome this Danish super team. Astralis have clinched onto the #1 spot in the CS:GO ranking for a while, and it seems like it will be a long time before anyone can take that spot away from them.
