Daemin, Neko join Guangzhou Charge coaching staff

Just after some big player signings, coaching staffs are also getting upgraded in the Overwatch League. The Guangzhou Charge has added Dae-min “Daemin” Kim and Se-hyeon “Neko” Park to its coaching staff as assistant coaches. These two signings are very interesting, as both players formerly played in the Overwatch League. However, with both moving into coaching now, we get to see their strategies more than their gameplay.

How Daemin and Neko got here

Out of the two, Daemin is the more experienced coach, for better or worse. For those who don’t remember, he was on the original Shanghai Dragons roster. Yes, the Shanghai roster that went winless in forty games in the inaugural season. However, after leaving and playing two seasons in Korean Contenders, he decided to move on to a coaching role. As a coach for Element Mystic, the team never finished below fourth place in any tournament. While the time coaching was short, he showed good results and the Charge seems to enjoy his coaching as well as his experience.

Neko, playing for the Boston Uprising.

Neko was also a former player, for both the Boston Uprising and Toronto Defiant. But, as his time with Toronto ended, he moved back to Korea. He shifted into a main support player, playing for Korean team O2 Blast, leading the team to a title. However, rumors of him moving to the Overwatch League as a coach swirled around. With this announcement, it came true.

The Charge surging forward

With these two coaching signings, the staff for the Charge look very experienced. The organization must see potential with these former players, especially for leading the Charge to victory. With the roster mixed with both Chinese and Korean players, having both Korean and Chinese assistant coaches helps a lot. Either way, we’ll have to see if Daemin and Neko will truly make a change for the Guangzhou Charge next season.
