In one of the most exciting events of the year, the Dallas Empire have taken home the victory at CDL Los Angeles. After only losing to the Atlanta FaZe in their first game, Dallas dominated the rest of the tournament. Of course, they didn’t need to play FaZe again after Minnesota Rokkr defeated them en route to the grand finals. It seems as though Minnesota has FaZe’s number but can’t quite seem to defeat Dallas, which is what makes the CDL so exciting. Let’s recap how the Empire pulled off their first win.

Empire halt Rokkr’s miracle run at CDL Los Angeles

When the semifinals of CDL Los Angeles came down to OpTic Gaming, Dallas Empire, Minnesota Rokkr, and Atlanta FaZe, the outcomes seemed clear. Dallas was going to defeat OpTic, and Atlanta would edge out Minnesota like two weeks ago.

However, the latter of those outcomes didn’t come to fruition. Minnesota was able to get over the hump that was FaZe to reach the grand finals. With a close 3-2 series, the Rokkr have seemed to become Atlanta’s kryptonite through one-quarter of the CDL.

Although, it was all for naught in the end, as Dallas defeated the Rokkr 3-2 in the Los Angeles finals. After going up 2-0, Dallas faltered a little, dropping two straight maps including the best Hardpoint match of the year.

In the end, though, the Empire were able to pull it out in the game five Search and Destroy. Dallas simply looked too dominant in the mode for Minnesota to stand a chance. This is the Empire’s second grand finals and first event win. They lost to the Chicago Huntsmen in the CDL London finals.

The Call of Duty League resumes in three weeks when eight teams travel to Dallas on March 28-29.
