Damonte no longer part of Dignitas, now a free agent
The end of the 2019 League of Legends World Championship means LCS teams are reevaluating their future plans, and Dignitas has some major changes arising. Tanner “Damonte” Damonte, who’s been a professional League of Legends player since 2015, has revealed that he will no longer be a part of NA team Dignitas. Damonte, who was previously a mid-laner for Echo Fox, has played with Clutch Gaming for the entire 2019 season. As Dignitas merged with CG in the summer of 2019, plenty of changes had taken place including a $2.3 million contract with well-known top-laner Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon.
Damonte’s future with Dignitas
As Damonte shared the news on social media, fans questioned why Dignitas would make the decision to drop him. Not too long ago, League of Legends interviewer Travis Gafford had Damonte share his thoughts on the Dignitas acquisition of Clutch Gaming:
Everyone feels happier, too, cause it was while where the team was in a limbo with like, ‘Okay, are we Clutch? Are we Dig? What are we doing?’ …They said that Scarra, ImaQTPie, Voyboy, all of them are coming back, actually, and that everyone will be kicked for next year. Kinda sucks, but you, know, just gonna ride it out.
Although this would be foreshadowing his future with Dignitas, fans still found it a surprise when he broke the news:
Dignitas has declined to exercise the 2nd year option of my contract, meaning that I will be free agent on the 18th. I am open to talk to any teams and would love to bring what I learned at worlds this year to any LCS team.

As a result, fellow teammate Sun “Cody Sun” Li-Yu shared his thoughts on Damonte’s position via Twitter:

A loss at Worlds 2019
Clutch Gaming was recently eliminated from Worlds 2019 as they went up against SK Telecom T1, Fnatic, and Royal Never Give Up. Ultimately, as they ended their journey going 0-6, Damonte shared a few words for his fans and followers:
2019 was the best year of my career, so many memories and so many ups and downs. Ending the Clutch legacy at worlds ain’t too bad.

Support from the community
In the end, it seems as though Damonte may be able to join another LCS team or even an EU team. Fans watch as his teammates and other League of Legends teams support him during this tough transition. Hopefully, he’ll have new opportunities open up at the beginning of 2020.
