Coming completely out of left field, Koei Tecmo just decided to drop an open beta for Dead or Alive 6 yesterday, free to all members of PlayStation Plus! This does mean that the demo is exclusive to PlayStation 4, however. Sorry, Xbox One! The demo started on Jan. 11 at 8 a.m. PT, and you have until Jan. 14 at 7:59 a.m. PT to get your matches in!

As stated in the above tweet, there will be five characters available in the beta: Kasumi, Ayane, Ryu Hayabusa, Hayate, and newcomer Diego. Dead or Alive 6 recently had its release date pushed back from Feb. 15 to a new date of Mar. 1. Team Ninja stated that the delay was to “further polish its balance, gameplay, and expressivity.” Having played the first version of the game at E3 2018, I am totally fine with Team Ninja taking their time since the game already felt great way back then. Surely this surprise beta is part of that process as well.
To tide you over though, Koei Tecmo dropped a trailer showing off two additional characters, Nyotengu and Phase 4. Nyotengu is a preorder bonus character, and Phase 4 is only available by purchasing the Digital Deluxe version of the game. You can see them in action here:

Excitement is building for Dead or Alive 6 as we draw closer to its new Mar. 1 release date, and we will be sure to let you know how the open beta handles once it is all over, right here on Daily Esports.
