Details on the new Sentinel sniper for Apex Legends Season 4

Apex Legends Season 4 is rapidly approaching, and the community is getting more and more excited with each passing day. From the intrigue of the story with Revenant to the new content, there’s a lot to be hyped about. However, one aspect of Season 4 that hasn’t gotten too much attention is the Sentinel sniper rifle. Announced with the Season 4 reveal, the Sentinel’s arrival got a little lost in all the fuss concerning Forge and Revenant. Now that that’s pretty much over, Respawn decided to release some new details about the sniper.

The Sentinel differs from all other guns in Apex Legends

A bolt-action sniper rifle, the Sentinel will arrive with the launch of Season 4. Like all other new seasons, there will only be one weapon coming at the start, though Respawn can always add more in later. The Sentinel itself will be free, but the exclusive skins for it are locked behind the Battle Pass and Apex Packs.

After the Season 4 trailer released, a PlayStation blog also came out to discuss the different aspects of the season. This includes never-before-seen details about the Sentinel in Apex Legends. According to the blog, it will be unlike any other weapon currently in the game.

Said to be deadly accurate, the Sentinel is “ideal for medium-to-long-range combat”. Apex‘s new gun will also be especially effective against shields. So, this could mean the Sentinel will feature capabilities that take down enemy shields more effectively.

However, the most intriguing blurb from the PlayStation blog is the following detail: “Consume a shield battery from your inventory to charge your shots for an extra, incisive punch.” From the sounds of it, the Sentinel will be able to charge up like an energy weapon for extra damage. However, you can only do so if you use a shield battery while equipping the weapon.

From everything we’ve heard, it appears that Apex Legends may have a new dominant gun. Of course, we’ll have to wait until Feb. 4 to find out for sure.
