Diablo IV finally announced at BlizzCon 2019

At long last, Blizzard Entertainment has unveiled Diablo IV during its annual BlizzCon event. This will serve as the next iteration in the Diablo series that fans have been longing for. The over-nine-minute cinematic trailer shows a group of raiders looking for treasure in a tomb or temple, only to find out it is a gateway instead. This ritual then summons Queen Lilith from Diablo II.

Diablo IV was first leaked with a tweet showing a book with images of Queen Lilith. However, after Blizzard’s mobile RPG Diablo Immortal was announced as BlizzCon 2018’s final reveal, many fans were wary about the validity of this leak.

“Sanctuary has been a home to Diablo players for more than 20 years, and it’s with our own deep passion for the series and a deep appreciation of the community that we announce Diablo IV today,” said J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment. “We’re excited to be returning to the dark, quintessential Diablo gameplay that players love while expanding the world and story in new ways, and we can’t wait for more people to be able to experience it.”

Staying true to the franchise’s roots, Diablo IV will combine the great features of both Diablo II and III, along with new aspects. With a new map, an array of dungeons, and endless content, Diablo IV will also allow groups of players to encounter each other in the same world. They will be able to conquer monsters together or fight against each other in PVP combat.

In Diablo IV, the Sanctuary will be a “contiguous seamless landmass” which contains different terrain regions like the Kejhistan burning desert, Scosglen verdant werewolf-infested forests, and the Dry Steppes’ rugged wilderness. The first three character classes were also revealed, which includes the brutal melee combat Barbarian, element controller Sorceress, and werewolf, werebear, and human shapeshifter Druid class.

In addition, players will now be able to experiment with character builds through customizable talent trees and skills, an expansive loot system, runes and rune word combinations, and personalized mounts as well. Diablo IV is still in development, but it will release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. How excited are you for the new Diablo IV release?
