North American esports organization Dignitas has reportedly secured Swedish player Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg from Ninjas in Pyjamas, according to 1pv. The 31-year-old leaves the Swedish esports organization after competing for them for the entirety of his Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) career — a whole 8 years since 2012.

Dignitas obtains f0rest

F0rest joins Dignitas as the team reenters the CSGO scene, after an initial exit in 2018 due to poor performance. He will be joining former Ninjas in Pyjamas teammates like Adam “friberg” Friberg, Richard “Xizt” Landström, and Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund. Former Nordavind AWPer Håkon “hallzerk” Fjærlih will serve as the fifth player on this planned lineup.

This is a great roster for Dignitas. However, it will be hard for them to compete against other top-tier teams. Most of f0rest’s notable achievements are in 2017 or prior, which includes his two Major first place finishes at ESL One: Katowice 2015 and ESL One: Cologne 2014. The same can be said for players like GeT_RiGhT — who have seen decent results in recent years — but have not achieved much success at Major events.

Replacement on Ninjas in Pyjamas

Ninjas in Pyjamas have reportedly acquired former GamerLegion player Tim “nawwk” Jonasson as f0rest’s replacement. The 22-year-old hasn’t competed for any well-known teams, with competition only in leagues like Season 2 of WePlay! Forge of Masters Season. Some recent placements include 2nd at 2019’s Moche XL Esports tournament and 5 – 6th at North Europe’s 2019 WESG event. GamerLegion will sign former Team Ancient player William “draken” Sundin as nawwk’s replacement.

The most recent Major appearance for Ninjas in Pyjamas was 15 – 16th at the 2019 StarLadder Berlin Major and 5 – 8th at Intel Extreme Masters XIII in Katowice. Without the help of a veteran player like f0rest, it doesn’t look like the organization can return to its 2016 – 2017 golden days. What do you think about this situation?
