Ed Boon may have bitten off more than he could chew when he teased at a desire to see Terry Crews play Jax in Mortal Kombat 11. Terry Crews would happily take the role. Boon is more than a little known for his mischievous teases when it comes to NetherRealm Studios games and character inclusions. Could Boon be bringing something together with Crews, or did he just get caught teasing the wrong more-than-enthusiastic actor for the role?

It all began with a fan art repost by Ed Boon via Twitter on January 24, 2019, showing off the skills of artist BossLogic, who reimagined Crews as the metal armed military might of Mortal Kombat’s EarthRealm. It didn’t take long for Terry Crews himself to catch wind of the piece and show his enthusiasm for the role. Perhaps seeing a chance for some fun, Ed Boon went on to tease fans and Crews, musing at the possibility of Crews in the role of Jax for Mortal Kombat 11.

Anyone who knows Crews should know full well that besides being in some of the most fun Old Spice commercials out there and holding a role on the likes of beloved TV show Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Crews is also avid about video games. He’s even got a star role in the upcoming open-world urban multiplayer game, Crackdown 3. So it should come as no surprise that Crews was thrilled at the thought of a team up with Ed Boon and NetherRealm. It’s certainly nothing to sneeze at, considering NetherRealm has already enlisted the star talent of Ronda Rousey to take up the role of Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat 11, as shown in the gameplay reveal.

It seems Ed Boon isn’t ready to pull the trigger quite yet, as he seemed to make quick to ensure everyone knew Jax hasn’t been confirmed, perhaps trying to curtail the excitement a little bit just in case it can’t be done. Nonetheless, at face value, both Ed Boon and Terry Crews seems excited about the prospect of Crews as Jax Briggs for Mortal Kombat 11. Will this magnificent prospective team-up happen? Time will tell, but for now, we can simply soak in the cool possibility that BossLogic envisioned.
