eFuse esports hub offering $2,020 scholarship with Seattle Surge

Midwest esports platform eFuse, launched in December 2019, is providing a scholarship opportunity for gaming students. The opportunity, the Seattle Surge #ForTheGamers Scholarship, has a short submission time frame. EFuse’s Twitter advertised the beginning of the contest on Jan. 31, and their page states the final day to enter is Feb. 2. The total amount of money being rewarded to one lucky winner is $2,020, which will both help the student and promote the Seattle Surge’s debut in the newly established Call of Duty League.

What are the requirements to apply?

EFuse encourages students everywhere to apply. The main requirements are as follows:

  • Be a current high school or college student. Minimum age is 14 years old.
  • Have relevant experience filled out in their eFuse portfolio
  • Must be an aspiring content creator or pro player
  • Must answer the following questions: Who is someone who helped spark your interest and made you want to get more involved with gaming, and why?

Along with these requirements, eFuse reminds applicants to ensure their portfolio represents their skills as well as possible.

eFuse is new on the block

This newly founded company hosts a large community of gamers to relax and connect. Much like many streaming platforms, users can message other players and their gaming clips on their profiles. Their main goal is to connect players and provide opportunities to those looking to move forward in the gaming industry. Moreover, eFuse users can create highlight reels, track gaming stats, link streams and social networking profiles, add professional work experience, input education information, and share events, honors, and skills.

The company also has a few notable brand ambassadors, such as NFL player Braxton Miller. They have received support from social media influencer ChocoTaco as well. Most importantly, this platform opens doors to future gaming professionals who want to work hard for a place in the industry.

Other opportunities

The Seattle Surge scholarship is only the most recent of eFuse’s scholarship opportunities, so aspiring content creators and professional players should keep an eye out for more. Overall, it seems this platform is trying to create successful gamers while sticking to their company’s mission. They are still in the beginning of their launch, so they will keep creating opportunities to gain visibility in the industry. In November 2019, they had raised $1.4 million in their seed round.

They aren’t the only company offering money for education, as recently ESA Foundation announced a college scholarship for women and minority esports competitors.
