ENCE follows Astralis’ footsteps, signs Jamppi as sixth CSGO member

ENCE has successfully signed Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen to create a six-man CSGO roster. We saw Astralis make a similar move a few weeks back after the Danes signed Patrick “es3tag” Hansen. Perhaps the dawn of CSGO rosters containing more than one player is upon us.

Jamppi hops on board

The 18-year-old Finn has been signed by ENCE for free due to Jamppi’s expired contract with SJ Gaming. The young prodigy has now signed a two-year contract with the Finnish organization, and they’ve already decided the events at which he will represent its banner. Jamppi will be present at DreamHack Masters Spring as well as BLAST Premier Qualifier instead of Sami “xseveN” Laasanen. The official announcement, however, does specify that this may change due to “the current global health situation and its effects on competitive Counter-Strike.”

Additionally, Jamppi cannot currently compete in official Valve-sanctioned competitions. The Finn has a VAC-banned Steam account. This makes him ineligible to play at, for example, the ESL One: Road to Rio event leading up to the major. ENCE, however, is trying to resolve the situation and stands firmly behind its newest addition to the roster.

Six-man rosters now a thing in CSGO?

Following the lead of Astralis, ENCE also believes that today’s competitive Counter-Strike scene takes a “toll on the players mentally and physically.” With so many competitions and matches being played out on a regular basis by top-tier teams, the philosophy of giving certain players more time to recuperate seems to be spreading. As for now, ENCE is the second top-tier team to adopt the new six-man roster trend. We have yet to see if more teams do the same.
