Down Under

Rainbow Six: Siege has slowly advanced into legitimate esport over the years. While the West has held the majority of events, the East is still developing a stronger scene. Now, Siege fans in the South East and the down under can rejoice with ESL’s recent announcement. In the biggest Asia-Pacific tournament yet, PAX Australia will officially host the Six Masters 2018. The event will be a four-team invitational tournament, designed to showcase the best of the region.

The Rundown

PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) is an annual video game convention created by the authors of the webcomic: Penny Arcade. Over the years, events have taken place all over North America, with the inaugural Australia event in 2013. This year, PAX Australia will occur over the 26th to the 28th of October. The tournament will take place over Saturday, October 27. The current Asia-Pacific teams invited are as follows:

  • Team Nora-Rengo (JP)
  • FNATIC (ANZ)
  • Athletico Esports (ANZ)
  • ViewSonic.DarkSided (ANZ)

The total prize pool is confirmed as $25,000 AUD, and is split among the teams as follows:

  • 1st – $15,000
  • 2nd – $6,000
  • 3rd – $2,000
  • 4th – $2,000

A Growing Esport

This shows the development of the scene worldwide; a huge positive for the Siege scene. The biggest events in Australia so far have been Pro League related playoffs. It appears that Ubisoft is intent on growing all the regions and providing more opportunities for players. This event will follow up the Asia-Pacific season 8 playoff finals that will be held in Tokyo on the weekend of the 13th of October. While the year is slowly coming to a conclusion, it seems that there is no shortage of Rainbow Six: Siege action.

Tickets for the event are still available on the PAX website, so make sure to snag them if you can. Keep checking back with Daily Esports for all the essential Rainbow Six: Siege news, reports, and developments.
