India gets ESL One Dota 2 tournament thanks to new partnership

For the first time, Dota 2 fans and players will get their own tournament series in India. ESL One is partnering with NODWIN Gaming to host these events. The upcoming series will take place in Mumbai from April 19-21 in the NSCI Dome, an impressive venue capable of seating up to 8,000 spectators.

NODWIN Gaming is no stranger to the world of esports. This company is based out of India, so who better to help bring this Dota 2 tournament to life? In the past, they partnered with ESL in order to establish the ESL India Premiership. Essentially, it’s an annual series of various esports tournaments held throughout India. Those events mainly featured Dota 2, CS:GO, as well as Clash Royale.

This is truly exciting news for those living in India and especially Mumbai to have something to look forward to in just a few months. 12 teams will be featured through ESL One Mumbai.

The Vice President of Product at ESL made the following statement to The Esports Observer about ESL heading to India:

We can’t wait to bring ESL One to a completely new location – especially since this will mark the first big Dota 2 tournament in India. We see great potential in the Indian esports market and are looking forward to further foster the growth of the local scene together with our partner NODWIN Gaming.

Only seven of those teams received direct invites to join ESL One Mumbai. Qualifiers to be held in Europe, North America, Greater China, and Southeast Asia will decide which teams will claim four other spots, while a local qualifier held in India itself will determine who takes the final spot.

What exactly is up for grabs (besides bragging rights, of course)? The winning team will claim the ESL One trophy and a share of the impressive $300K prize pool. Now we have to wait and see how those qualifiers turn out.

You can be sure we will have coverage of this tournament right here on Daily Esports!
