Those that attended the annual BlizzCon 2019 event in person or through a virtual ticket have received beta access to Hearthstone Battlegrounds. Blizzard Entertainment is now allowing other fans to also receive the same opportunity before the open beta begins on Nov. 12 by watching livestreams on Twitch.

Beta access with Twitch streams

The new game mode within Hearthstone introduces elements from auto battler games like Dota Auto Chess and Riot Games’ Teamfight Tactics. The early access beta period will go until Nov. 12 at 12 a.m. PST. Other than preordering the Descent of Dragons expansion, attending BlizzCon 2019 in-person, or with a virtual ticket, fans have another avenue to gain access.

By watching any stream under the Hearthstone category on Twitch, fans have a chance to receive early access. These will come in the form of a Twitch Drop. However, fans need to link their Twitch and Battle.net accounts in their Twitch Settings menu first, through the Connections tab. Once linked together, fans can check whether a stream is eligible by checking for a message underneath the streaming window.

Hearthstone Battlegrounds

Announced at BlizzCon 2019, Hearthstone Battlegrounds pits eight players against each other. Like the normal game mode, the name of the game is protecting your own hero, while trying to remove your enemies. However, new features are added through the Tavern menu where players can purchase and upgrade their minions. Combat is also now automated, without needing any input from the player. Minions carry over from each round, but the more minions a player has, the better chance that they can deal more damage toward the opponent.

In addition, players will gain access to Legendary Quests on Nov. 12, which reward card packs for playing Hearthstone games. These card packs are from the Descent of Dragons, Rise of Shadows, and Saviors of Uldum expansions. Have you checked out the latest Hearthstone game mode?
