Offset investment

“I love gaming and esports is the future,” commented Offset in the press release. “These two facts make it only right that I be a part of the biggest esports organization with some of the best players in the world.”

No financials have been disclosed on the amount that was invested. Other details regarding his ownership or the collaboration that might take place between the two entities is also unknown. The release specifically named the music artist as “FaZe Offset,” which could mean future content creation together.

Offset’s investment into esports follows recent ventures by other music artists. The Pittsburgh Knights received investment from Wiz Khalifa, Drake has partial ownership in 100 Thieves, and Tory Lanez has invested in Luminosity Gaming. Diddy has also invested in PlayVS, a startup involved in the esports scene.

FaZe Clan

“FaZe Clan goes beyond gaming and esports – we’re leading a transformation in culture and entertainment. Offset represents a new generation of cultural leaders who understand that shift,” added Lee Trink, the Chief Executive Officer of FaZe Clan. “FaZe Clan is redefining what it means to be an iconic entertainment brand and working with a visionary like Offset is another step towards the future – we not only dominate in competitive gaming[, but] we are setting new trends across content, merchandise, brand partnerships, and beyond.”

North American esports and entertainment organization FaZe Clan got its start in the Call of Duty scene. The organization is currently partnered with companies like HTC Gaming, Nissan, SteelSeries, SCUF Gaming, G FUEL, and Wix. It also competes in games like Fortnite, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, PUBG, Rainbow Six Siege, and FIFA. The addition of rapper Offset to the ownership group creates new opportunities for cooperation between the two.

This announcement was teased a few months ago when he followed Call of Duty-related accounts on Twitter. He also replied to a tweet asking about investment in esports with, “Might have already done that.” What kinds of collaboration would you like to see between FaZe Clan and rapper Offset?
