FaZe Clan have undergone roster changes and, as of recently, have yet to find their full form. Ahead of IEM Cologne 2021, FaZe Clan sat down and discussed their losing streak, sticking with  Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer Gustafsson and Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken’s role on the team.

FaZe Clan’s Losing Streak

In their last three months, FaZe clan’s win percentage has been close to 15%, and they have not won against a top 10 team since ESL Pro League Season 13. Finn “karrigan” Andersen acknowledged this, saying FaZe “are not consistent” but “Cologne is the time for us to turn this around.” Longtime player Håvard “rain” Nygaard followed by saying if FaZe can implement what they do in practice, they’ll have a strong performance at IEM Cologne.

Sticking with Olofmeister

Following the benching of Marcelo “coldzera” David, FaZe Clan announced that olofmeister would return to FaZe. Although the community speculated that he was a temporary player, the team confirmed today that they “believe in olof and he fits the role [FaZe] need very well.” Karrigan elaborated that now, there are “clear roles, and everyone has a purpose in-game.” Previously, with Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye, there were role crashes between rain and Kjaerbye as they both played entry roles in the team. However, with Twistzz coming into FaZe, the roles have changed.

Twistzz’s role on the team

While Twistzz was one of the hard hitters on Team Liquid, his role within the team has changed drastically. According to him, on Team Liquid, he was the “last line of defense for Liquid,” and anchored sites heavily. Now, on FaZe, “everything is completely swapped,” and instead of anchoring a site, he is “in a lot of more aggressive spots.” rain also explained that Twistzz has stellar “decision making in mid-rounds” and knows what the team needs to win rounds.

While FaZe Clan have largely been playing at the big events, Twistzz said he hopes that the team will also play smaller events to raise their confidence levels and improve their rankings amongst other teams. Although they have yet to show it, Karrigan believes this iteration of FaZe Clan is the “best lineup we’ve had, but we haven’t proved it yet.” FaZe Clan’s debut match at IEM Cologne is on July 6th in a best of one against Evil Geniuses.
