Back in June, I wrote an article talking about EA Sports’s new feature to FIFA 18, the “Festival of FUTball.” Festival of FUTball provides players with the chance to upgrade their Ultimate Team squads with new items. Running the entire length of the World Cup, the new event features new World Cup in-form cards, squad-building challenges, and international-themed content.

Since the World Cup is about to kick off the quarter-final round, FIFA 18 has unveiled new “Team of the Matchday” (TOTM) cards from the final group-stage matchday and the round of 16. In case you missed it, you can see the first two Team of the Matchday squads here.

Below is a full list of the latest additions to the Festival of FUTball Team of the Matchday.

FIFA 18: Festival of FUTball Team of the Matchday 3

The players featured above were chosen for their performances in the final group-stage matchday. Starting in goal, we have Cho Hyun Woo with a rating of 88. In defence, we have Thiago Silva, Andreas Granqvist, Marcos Rojo, and Yerry Mina rated 95, 91, 89, and 81 respectively. In midfield, we have Ricardo Quaresma rated 91, Paulinho rated 90, and 92-rated Ivan Perišić. Up top features, 98-rated Luis Suárex, Lionel Messi rated 97, and 94-rated Heung-Min Son.

The rest of the squad includes the following:

  • Diego Godín, 96
  • Isco, 96
  • Milan Badelj, 88
  • Joel Campbell, 87
  • Ludwig Augustinsson, 87
  • Essam El-Hadarym 86
  • Salem Al Dawsari, 86

Overall, there isn’t anything I have to argue about this TOTM. All the players featured deserve the recognition. I only have small suggestions. You could maybe say that Milan Badelj deserves to be in the starting 11. In my opinion, he should be starting over Paulinho. Badelj had a goal and an assist in his game, whereas Paulinho got himself one goal in his game. Also, Philippe Coutinho should probably be in this matchday. The man has been Brazil’s best player, and in his final group-stage match he registered an assist and three key passes. As I said, I only have small suggestions, but overall this TOTM gets a thumbs up from me.

FIFA 18: Festival of FUTball Team of the Matchday 4

This edition of the TOTM featured players from the knockout stages of the 2018 World Cup. With the round of 16 results cemented, let’s take a look at the players who made the bill. Starting in goal, we have 91-rated Kasper Schmeichel. In defence, we have Andreas Granqvist rated 92, 88-rated Diego Laxalt, and Benjamin Pavard rated 87. The middle of the field features 97-rated Isco, N’Golo Kanté rated 94, and 88-rated Nacer Chadli. In attack, 99-rated Luis Suarez, Neymar 98-rated, 97-rated Edinson Cavani, and Kylian Mbappé rated 94.

The rest of the squad features the following:

  • Eden Hazard, 98
  • Ivan Rakitić, 93
  • Willian, 91
  • Takashi Inui, 91
  • Emil Forsberg, 89
  • Kieran Trippier, 88
  • Igor Akinfeev, 88

This Team of the Matchday squad is remarkable. For the first time, we see a 99-rated player in Luis Suarez, as well as 11 other 90-and-above-rated players. This edition will undoubtedly cause plenty of pain and happiness to FIFA 18 Ultimate Team players, as the players featured are monsters. Overall, this squad features players who deserve the recognition. I don’t have too many complaints. The only person I think that could’ve featured in this squad is Harry Kane. With two goals in England’s game against Colombia, (Yes, I know they were penalties.) Kane has been England’s best player and is also the top scorer in the tournament.

Stay tuned for the latest edition of the Festival of FUTball Team of the Matchdays. Also, be sure to check back for more FIFA 18 updates. I can personally confirm that another man of the match card review is coming.
