Flashpoint returns as official Regional Major Ranking event for the Europe

Flashpoint returns in Flashpoint 3 as an official Regional Major Ranking event for Europe. The league’s parent company, B Site, announced this today, April 9. The double-elimination bracket will host 16 teams as they battle towards the Stockholm Major. The now RMR event, Flashpoint 3 will invite 11 European teams based on their RMR points from 2020. Four open qualifiers will be played for the remaining five spots starting April 13. The final open qualifier will be held on April 24. The qualifiers will funnel into a closed event to begin on April 27.

The eleven teams invited include Astralis, Vitality, Heroic, Ninjas in Pyjamas, BIG, Fnatic, G2, OG, FunPlus Phoenix, FaZe and the former North roster. The three-week main event, including the qualified and invited teams, begins May 10.

“We’re excited to increase the quality of competition in Flashpoint while continuing our high standards for production and content,” said Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles, VP of B Site. “We think that Flashpoint 3 will offer fans a thrilling kick-off to the Major cycle and give brands significant exposure to the CSGO audience.”

Flashpoint as an RMR event

Flashpoint will be the first step toward the first Counter Strike: Global Offensive Major since 2019. Because of the ongoing pandemic, there was no Major in 2020. The tournament will still be online for safety, as competitors will still play in Europe. The broadcast team will be in the FACEIT studios in Los Angeles. The production and talent will broadcast in the California city with the matches played in the afternoon and evening of the European time zones.

“We are excited to return to Valve’s official circuit after we produced the London Major,” said Michele Attisani, Co-founder and CBO of FACEIT.

Flashpoint 3 will be one of the three RMR events in Europe before the Major. The Major, with PGL as the host, starts this Fall.
