FlyQuest has stunned TSM by taking them down in convincing fashion on week two of the LCS Spring Split. Eugene “Pobelter” Park and Jason “WildTurtle” Tran were the big carries of the day for their team, which is a great sign for FlyQuest fans. However, TSM fans may be sweating a bit as they’ve lost to two teams that they were expected to beat.

FlyQuest were heading into this match looking pretty strong as a team. However, they lost against Counter Logic Gaming the day before due to their own mistakes. Even still, they were able to take down both their opponents the week before. For some people, it wasn’t too impressive though, as the two teams they took down was OpTic Gaming and Golden Guardians. They would need to regroup and rebuild their tactics for their first real test of the LCS Spring Split in TSM.

As for TSM, they were coming into this game after a good win against Echo Fox. However, TSM still needs to build more synergy together, especially over in the top side of the map. Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik has looked a bit weaker in the later stages of the game, and must improve his macro skills if TSM wants to compete in Playoffs this year. On the other hand, Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen has been playing great this season, even in their losses. It seems like separating from Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodríguez was a pretty good decision.

Pobelter and WildTurtle take over for FlyQuest

In our preseason power rankings for the LCS, I was very iffy about Pobelter sliding into a carry role for FlyQuest. I even ranked them the worst team in the league, due to their lack of a bonafide carry player. However, in the last two weeks, he has proven me wrong time and time again. In this game, he and WildTurtle stepped up huge for FlyQuest. Their Zoe and Kai’sa play paid off well for the team, as Pobelter would put the nail in the coffin with an incredible Baron steal:

The game would tilt over to FlyQuest completely after this great play, and they would take the game a few minutes later. It was a great showing from the veteran members of FlyQuest, but it is a bad-look for TSM. Even before the Baron steal, they were down six kills and 6,000 gold. Each lane was down by a pretty significant margin, while they weren’t playing the team fights too well. Andy “Smoothie” Ta didn’t play too well on Braum, while Matthew “Akaadian” Higginbotham and Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik made some mistakes as well.

Final Thoughts

FlyQuest is looking impressive through two weeks of the LCS. People were skeptical about Pobelter having to cover the carry role for this team, but he has adjusted perfectly. Maybe without having to play a supportive style, his true potential will now be unlocked. The Notorious P.O.B. hasn’t had the chance to really flex his carry muscles yet. We will see if he can keep this level of play up for the rest of the Spring Split.

Meanwhile, TSM stumbles once again to a team lower than them in the standings. This was a team they definitely should have taken down, especially with how FlyQuest lost to Counter Logic Gaming the day before. They need to be more proactive as a team, and they need to be decisive about every decision they make. Hesitation will be the downfall for TSM if they can’t find the right synergy between their teammates.
