Get HYPED! For Honor reveals new hero armor in Marching Fire!

For Honor‘s upcoming expansion already has some considerable hype. With a new game mode and four new heroes, it’s a major step forward for Ubisoft’s fighter. Releasing on Oct. 16, it’s the biggest content update to come to the game so far. Marching Fire also offers a major change to gear stats and some new maps. The real tease, however, is certainly the promise of next-level aesthetics. Let’s face it — looks are important to the FH community. Players spend, on average, just as much time in the customization menu as they do playing actual matches. So when the devs announce they’re finally revealing the expansion armor, you can bet your gladius that everyone’s watching. That wasn’t all they had to say, though!

The roadmap for October will keep players busy.

What’s good for October BESIDES Marching Fire?

From Oct. 4 – 11, there’s a Duel Showdown. Warriors are urged to log in and square off with their fellow fighters. This mode is like Ranked Duel, except your gear stats matter and there’s no penalty for losing. Players can win ornaments for their effort too. There’s also a Dueling Warrior Challenge from Oct. 5 – 8, where each faction must compete for dominance. Then on the 11th, there is the Warrior’s Den Launch Event. Ubisoft promises that this is going to be the big reveal for Marching Fire. Everything showcased in the past months will come together. What a party, eh?

There’s also a tournament and Ranked Vanquisher event running Oct. 12 – 15. And then, noble warriors, Marching Fire itself drops. What’s exciting about this is that, on the 19th, there is a faction challenge for Breach. This will be the first official event for the new game mode. After that is a seasonal event, which looks promising. October promises to be a big month for the For Honor community.

Valk finally got her wings.

So what’s the armor like?

One of the biggest changes to For Honor‘s aesthetics with Marching Fire is the faces. So far, every hero has had helmets and masks obscuring their facial features. With this expansion, the veils are pierced. Heroes now have full-face armor, and so far it looks pretty great.

Berserker finally has a face to the name.

One of the most popular armor showcases is, obviously, Centurion. At this point, we can safely say that he’s the mascot of For Honor. The number of memes and quotes alone are tantamount to this. Evidently, Ubisoft did not disappoint us. Covered in gold ornaments with his trademark masks, he’s never looked better.

Centurion gets spooky right in time for Halloween.

Raider also comes with a very welcome change. One of the biggest criticisms of Norse media has been a longstanding one — the horned helmet thing. Vikings have no evidence in history of ever wearing horned helmets. While Warlord, Berserker, and the rest don’t really suffer from this, Raider certainly did. As evidenced from the Warrior’s Den showcase, Ubisoft’s finally dropped the horns. In his new armor, Raider looks far closer to a traditional Viking than ever before.

No more goofy horns for Raider. Although he does have an apron, now.

What’s the deal with Arena mode?

Arena’s a great mode for practicing moves and mastering certain combos. The biggest change shown is the fact that this will now work with co-op. This means that instead of working with bots, players will be able to train with real players. While it’s peer-to-peer for now, it should not be an issue for only two players.
