No. 1 seed For the Whatt advanced out of pools without too much difficulty. They won each of their pools sets and lost just one game to Duck Dolla Bill$. Their first sets in top 24 were similarly convincing, as they achieved 3-0 wins over 2dos and his Family and Azure. For the Whatt also won its first set in top 8, defeating Deep Blues 3-1.
For the Whatt met its first real challenge in Winners Finals, suffering an 0-4 loss at the hands of No. 3 seed Demise. After a 4-1 victory over Lowkey in Losers Finals, For the Whatt got the chance to rematch Demise in Grands.
In Grand Finals, the two competing teams traded games back and forth as they played out a grueling seven-game set. For the Whatt came out on top with a 4-3 win, allowing them to reset the bracket. The second set was far more decisive, with For the Whatt emerging victorious with a 4-0 over Demise.
Second place at Smash’N’Splash Splatoon 2
Despite falling short of the gold, Demise had an incredibly strong performance in the Smash’N’Splash Splatoon 2 event. The team consisted of Matthew “Zero” Amaya, Dylan “10sion” Sipe, Andred “DeeJayy” Vargas, and tictac39.
Demise swept through teams like Hanran, InControl, Lowkey, and For the Whatt in order to make it to Grand Finals through winners side. In fact, Demise did not drop a single game in this tournament until Grand Finals. This dominating run is a testament to the skill of Demise’s players. In addition, it shows the skill of For the Whatt’s players, as they overcame such a seemingly insurmountable opponent.
For the Whatt consists of independent players teaming together for events. Conversely, Demise is an esports organization that patrons the players on its Splatoon 2 team.
