This past weekend, a current game designer at Infinity Ward, @IW_Miked, revealed some captivating news. Apparently, there have been some new additions to Infinity Ward. Former employees of Naughty Dog have joined the development team for Modern Warfare 4.

While this doesn’t mean much for the multiplayer side of things, it shows Infinity Ward is taking the Campaign mode seriously this year. As Black Ops 4 did not feature a Campaign mode, Activision obviously heard the community’s complaints.

You can catch what IW_Miked said in a recent Twitch stream here.

How this affects MW4

Naughty Dog

Naughty Dog is one of the most respected video game companies in the world. As the makers of The Last of Us and the Uncharted series, their reputation is unparalleled. Known for exceptional story-telling, it’s interesting to see Activision hire employees from this branch of the industry.

While Naughty Dog doesn’t have a ton of experience with multiplayer, their single-player expertise is top notch. Although not confirmed, these former Naughty Dog employees are almost certainly working on the Campaign side of things.

Call of Duty has been somewhat slacking on the single-player side of things in recent years. The Campaigns as of late have been decent, but most agree they fail to compare to the early Call of Duty games.

As a return to Modern Warfare is extremely likely, it makes sense why Infinity Ward wants to focus on Campaign mode. The original trilogy of Modern Warfare has some of the most compelling single-player experiences in the franchise. It seems as though Activision and Infinity Ward want to recapture some of this glory.

Keep in mind that nothing has been confirmed for the next Call of Duty. That said, various leaks have confirmed the next title is going to be Modern Warfare 4 and will feature a Campaign mode.
