Former Danish Overwatch player Daniel “Dafran” Francesca has retired from his gaming career to transition into something closer to nature. The popular gamer and streamer announced his retirement back in June, stating that he wants to start a new chapter in his life. He is focusing on his next project on farming fruits and vegetables, something his fans didn’t expect from him.

Dafran was famously a part of the Overwatch League, and most recently, the VALORANT scene. He began his Overwatch career playing for Selfless Gaming until July 2017, when the organization suspended him because of unacceptable behavior. After joining NRG Esports as a streamer at the start of 2018, he hopped on to play for Atlanta Reign. Later on, he made his Overwatch League appearance for the 2019 Stage 1 Playoffs before switching to become a streamer. Between all of that, he had a bit of a rough reputation, but he was well-known throughout the gaming community.

Dafran, the future farmer

The former player is featured holding a barrel of dirt in a recent Instagram post by a Danish farm “Økotopen.” Underneath the photo is an English-translated caption that reveals him to be a future intern of the farm. It also states that he wants to make a living out of growing organic vegetables. Additionally, Dafran’s perspective of his new career path is to make life as simple as possible. “…he said today ‘it’s just awesome to be able to go outside every day,'” the caption shares, “…that was exactly what I said when I started out .. sometimes it’s the simplest things in the world that make us gain perspective in life.”

In his announcement tweet, Dafran stated that he doesn’t plan to throw his love for gaming away. He still plans to stream every now and then. Although he’s not in the professional scene anymore, he believes that this kind of change is needed, especially after spending one-third of his “life in front of the computer.”
