Fortnite has revealed it will be making a “special announcement” at the 2019 Game Awards. Taking place on Dec. 12, the Game Awards are gaming’s most well-known award show, with every high-profile developing studio and esports team in attendance. However, in recent years, the show has become a popular venue to unveil new games or new content for existing games. Epic Games was in attendance in 2018, as Fortnite was nominated for a flurry of categories. Epic Games also revealed the addition of The Block and Creative Mode in Fortnite. It appears this year they will following a similar approach with the Game Awards.

What could Fortnite’s announcement be?

Since last year’s big revelation was Creative Mode, which allowed players a whole new expansion of freedom in Fortnite, it could really be anything that Epic announces this year.

Announced alongside Creative was The Block, which was a designated POI on the Fortnite map. Though, The Block was a series of fan and Creative-made locations that changed with every new update. The Block was removed from the map with the introduction of Season 2.

So, it’s fair to assume that Epic Games could be bringing The Block back to Fortnite. However, that caliber of announcement seems too small for a stage like the Game Awards. Many fans are speculating that the announcement could surround some kind of new gameplay element.

In addition to their announcement, Fortnite is nominated for four different awards. They are Best Ongoing Game, Best Esports Event, Best Esports Game, and Best Community Support. The final award may be subject to opinion, but the Game Awards clearly believe Fortnite has positive community support.

You can watch the Game Awards on Dec. 12 at 8:30 P.M. EST. The show will be streamed to all of their major social platforms, including Twitch, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
