The second challenge of the Buccaneer’s Bounty event in Fortnite is live in-game. Part of a five-day Limited Time Mode rotation, Buccaneer’s Bounty has players drop in and complete challenges for exclusive rewards.
Today’s challenge is slightly easier than yesterday’s mission to find 10 Pirate Camps. For Day 2, players will need to search for Buried Treasure around the Fortnite island.
Searching for Buried Treasure
The Buried Treasure item was introduced with the launch of Season 8 in Fortnite. The way you obtain it is by simply finding a Treasure Map in a chest or on the floor. Once found, the Treasure Map will lead you towards some hidden treasure around the map with arrow indicators.
Following the arrows will lead you to an X marked on the ground. Start hitting the marked spot with your pickaxe and a chest will appear. Interact with this chest and you’ve successfully searched for Buried Treasure!
You only need to accomplish this task once to complete the Day 2 challenge of Buccaneer’s Bounty. However, searching for Buried Treasure is the easy part of this challenge. Finding a Treasure Map and not getting eliminated along your journey is the tough part.
While there is no absolute concrete way to find Buried Treasure, there are some ways to help the process along. To start, land in a remote area of the map, such as Haunted Hills or Sunny Steps. This will ensure there won’t be an onslaught of enemies chasing you around.
Next, look for a Treasure Map until you find one. There is no viable strategy to this other than hoping the RNG is on your side.
Once you find the Map, make sure no one is in the vicinity around you. Getting eliminated with a Treasure Map in your hands isn’t a good way to go out. All that’s left is finding the Treasure and you’re done!
The reward
Once you have completed the Buried Treasure quest, you unlock the Pirate Parrot spray. While not as extravagant as the Plunder Glider from yesterday, it’s a free item nonetheless.
There are only five days left in the Buccaneer’s Bounty event, so don’t procrastinate getting your challenges done. They will disappear, along with the chance to claim the rewards, once the event has concluded.
