This week's Fortnite challenges are now live, and we have a fresh guide to help you through Season 5, Week 6, whether you're a free or Battle Pass player.

Deal headshot damage to opponents

For this week’s first task, players are challenged to focus on their accuracy. Despite the popularity of the “spray ‘n’ pray” meta in the game right now, this first challenge asks players to Deal headshot damage to opponents. A cumulative total of 500 damage is required to pass the challenge, though this does not need to be achieved in a single match.

There are a few approaches one can employ to succeed. Remember that different classes of weapons have different headshot multipliers. For example, assault rifles deal double damage, while sniper rifles have a 2.5x headshot multiplier. Meanwhile, sometimes there are differences even within the same weapon class. The Tactical Shotgun has a 2.0 multiplier, but the new Double Barrel Shotgun only deals 1.5x headshot damage.

Keep in mind that, despite the lower multiplier, the latter option is still better for this challenge. If all of your pellets connect, the Double Barrel deals a whopping 265 headshot damage.

Harvest building resources with a pickaxe

Next on the challenge list is to Harvest 3,000 building resources with a pickaxe. Despite players bemoaning the viability of building against SMGs, Epic still insists players embrace Fortnite‘s unique feature. While this challenge is fairly self-explanatory, be aware of the recent changes to material strengths. A recent patch increased the health of all material walls, scaling with the material’s rarity.

If you’d like to complete this challenge as quickly as possible, drop in Wailing Woods or Lonely Lodge. These large trees drop the most wood out of any object, and there are plenty to farm. However, if you want materials that are more viable in the endgame, seek locations with high percentages of metal or brick. The depot with shipping containers is a good example for this.

Search where the Stone Heads are looking

For the last Free Pass challenge of Season 5, Week 6, players must Search where the Stone Heads are looking. Added for Season 5, the Stone Heads are recreations of iconic Easter Island statues. There are a few scattered across the map and have become popular landing spots thanks to their abundance of resources. Aside from providing a high amount of resources when mined, up to three chests can spawn around these statues. Furthermore, rifts often form above. This means players can drop in, quickly loot, and then reposition themselves with the rift. If you’re still struggling with last week’s rift challenge, this could be a good opportunity to kill two challenges with one, ahem, Stone Head.

To see what the Stone Heads are looking at, travel to the hilltop between Shifty Shafts and Salty Springs. Watch the video above to discern the exact location of this triangulation, and enjoy some extra Battle Stars.

Search chests in Lonely Lodge

Next up on the docket is a traditional chest search. This time, players are to Search 7 chests in Lonely Lodge. Fortunately, this area of the map has a fair amount of chests interspersed throughout the forest. Be sure to check the attics of the smaller buildings, and a few hidden chests typically spawn in the main lodge. However, I wouldn’t advise going for the chest at the top of the tower. Not only is this a popular target, it leaves you vulnerable to other players in the area.

Fortunately, you can complete this challenge and the harvesting challenge simultaneously. As mentioned earlier, the big trees around the lodge area provide a large amount of wood material. Even with other players dropping in this area, there are plenty of resources for everyone to harvest. Assuming you survive the initial drop, of course.

Complete timed trials

Finally, a breath of fresh air. Each week, players are tasked with the usual bout of recurring challenges and a few season-specific tasks. Unfortunately, these lists often end up feeling formulaic. That’s no longer the case with the next Season 5, Week 6 challenge, which is to Complete 5 time trials.

Time trials are an entirely new mechanic for Fortnite. By visiting the locations marked on the map below, players will see a translucent stopwatch icon. For an example of what to look for, see our header image. Upon interacting with this icon, players initiate a time trial mini-game. While you still need to be wary of opponents and the storm, find time and race against the clock! Be sure to make use of the game’s vehicles, shopping carts and ATKs, when applicable.

Minigun or Light Machine Gun Eliminations

Moving forward, players need either 2 Minigun or Light Machine Gun Eliminations. Despite this challenge being marked as “hard,” these weapons are fairly forgiving in terms of their accuracy and damage output. Considering the high magazines attached to each, players need only spray in the general direction of an opponent in order to shred cover and deal damage.

Unfortunately, if you’re having difficulty, the only solution this week is to practice. While we normally recommend trying the 50 vs. 50 LTM for most challenges, this week’s variant shakes things up a bit. The new Soaring 50’s mode grants players the ability to deploy their glider after falling more than 10 meters. Whereas the Minigun and LMG excel at destroying cover, especially for people who have built towers, this new glider mechanic means they can more easily survive fall damage.

Eliminate opponents in Tilted Towers

Last but not least, to complete the Season 5, Week 6 challenges, players must Eliminate 3 opponents in Tilted Towers. Since its inclusion to the game in Season 3, Tilted Towers has established a sort of infamous mythos. Sporting community-made taglines such as, “Where boys become men,” this location is a hotspot for high-octane gameplay. No matter the path of the Battle Bus, crowds of players always swarm to drop at Tilted Towers. As such, there is plenty of fodder for this challenge.

Skilled players, like popular Fortnite streamer Nickmercs, regularly land at Tilted Towers and walk away dominant and with a high elimination count. However, if you’re more of a hesitant player, try the new Sniper Shootout LTM. In this mode, all players are limited to exclusively using sniper rifles. This means that confrontations will occur at a distance, and there’s less of a chance of multiple people rushing at you. Watch your back, equip the new Heavy Sniper, and fire away.

That wraps up this week’s challenges. As with previous weeks, completing four of the challenges also unlocks a bonus 5,000  XP. Furthermore, completing all of the challenges completes another tier of the ongoing Road Trip quest line. With each new tier unlocked, players receive a new loading screen which reveals the location of a hidden Battle Star in-game. As mentioned earlier, once seven tiers are complete, players unlock a mysterious new skin. Last season, this was the much-hyped Visitor, which ultimately related to the overarching story and missile launch from Season 4.

We’ll have to wait until next week to find out what Season 5’s hidden skin is, but until then, catch up on last week’s challenges here and good luck!
