Fortnite leaker shut down by Epic Games

Epic Games really really does not like when people leak things or profit off of cheating in Fortnite. They just shut down a prominent account that goes by FNBRLeaks. Epic games sent a cease and desist letter to the account and recently said in a statement that it wasn’t the leaks that prompted the shutdown when they spoke to PC Gamer.

“The owner of this account and others promoted and advertised the sale of game modification tools which violate our terms of service,” says the spokesperson. “And this is not directly related to data mining or leaking.”

After receiving the letter the owner shut down the social media and GitHub accounts. Now, this is not the first time Epic has gone after similar individuals for doing this we have reported on this before. It seems that while this may have been going for quite sometime Epic Game clearly has had enough of people profiting off of cheating and its IP. FNBR allegedly wasn’t just a leaker, but also a self-proclaimed Fortnite Detective. He would uncover leaks about future content and then would share it via social media.

Statement from FNBRLeaks

On the Twitter page before going completely offline the following statement was made:

“Due to the request of an Epic Games Attorney who i’m not going to disclose, my Twitter, Discord, YouTube, Instagram, and GitHub must be deleted, or else they will take action,” FNBRLeaks’ owner, wrote. “Thank you all for the support and followers over my 7-month span of the FNBRLeaks twitter. Sadly, everything comes to an end.”

Everyone loves a preview of what’s to come in their favorite upcoming titles, but it seems FNBR went a little too depth by possibly trying to profit off what Epic describes as “game modification tools” He was also accused of apparently spoiling the game for the millions of users who play it by sharing upcoming cosmetics and other goodies yet to be released. Other individuals have done this with games such as GTA Online and were also punished in a much harsher way (having their homes raided and computers seized). This probably serves as a warning to all would be leakers and anyone trying to make a profit off of Fortnite by selling similar tools: just don’t. Epic is watching and they are no longer just sitting back. You can also check out a portion of the letter sent by Epic Game’s legal team.
