While the launch of the Fortnite World Cup has shown undeniable skill from popular players, it also showcases something more. Throughout the qualifiers, many different age groups and players have proven to be top competitors in the scene. One of the more surprising players from this list, however, comes from the Fortnite Mobile community.

Throughout its lifecycle, Fortnite Mobile has seen multiple high-end players. While some of these players use enhanced attachments to play, most play the game with their fingers touching the screen. If you’ve ever tried your hand at playing mobile the way it’s intended, then you know how hard this is.

Well, even through this tough nature, a player mastered mobile to the point where he qualified for the finals of the Week 2 Duos portion of the World Cup.

Beating the odds

If you watched the official Fortnite World Cup stream, you may have seen this player competing with the best in the world. His handle is @Wilguo on Twitter, and he plays on an iPad Pro 2018.

Simply playing in the qualifying rounds is hard enough, no matter the platform you choose to compete on. However, competing and qualifying for the finals is an insanely hard feat to accomplish. Wilguo did all of this playing on an iPad with his partner, @mel_anji.

Regardless of how you look at it, this is one of the craziest things to happen in competitive Fortnite. Going up against the likes of PC and console masters on a mobile device is hard enough. Qualifying over them is a whole other monster.

The duo ended up placing in 747th place with 59 points, which allowed them to compete in the finals of Week 2. While they didn’t end up playing for much of the finals due to Easter, they did manage a victory royale.

In a game that featured the likes of Tfue, Cloakzy, Saf, and Zayt, the duo came out on top. Not only does this show they have the capability of winning games with high-tier players, but it also shows that their placement wasn’t a fluke. Many people will now be paying close attention to Wilguo and his partner in the coming weeks.
